Xanita Plywood

Xanita Plywood panels are specified into interior fitout and furniture-manufacturing projects where unique combinations of high-end decorative, thick, sustainable and uber-lightweight panels are required.

How are they manufactured?
Xanita crush-resistant cellulose wafers, commonly 30mm thick, are sandwich-pressed with 6.5mm FSC-certified birch plywood. The composite panels created are 43mm thick and weigh less than half of the weight of solid plywood.

Edging Options
Saw cut panels may be edged like conventional solid engineered wood. Best look is achieved with 2mm Surteco birch plywood, or acrylic or ABS edging.
The plywood surfaces can be decorated with either paint, high pressure laminates, genuine or reconstituted timber veneers and even direct digital UV inkjet printed patterns.

How can panels be connected?
Mitre-joins with biscuits, or conventional cam & dowel connectors from the likes of Hettich and Hafele. Special lightweight fittings commonly used with weaker expanded honeycomb board are not required as the Xanita core cell size is only 3mm which provides and incredible bond surface to the sandwich skins, negating the need for glue dowel systems to be called for to stabilise the skins.

Where can I purchase panels?
Xanita Plywood is currently only panel-pressed and stocked in South Africa and Australia. Contact your closest distributor to find a participating joinery business working with Xanita Plywood with CNC, edging and panel-sawing equipment.
